Transformation projects in the Maldives
Two major developments in the Maldives tourist sector are currently being constructed and they sound very promising indeed!
The Velana Airport is looking forward to adding a new terminal and runway to its layout. The terminal will most likely be completed in 2020 while the runway will already be open in mid-2018 to welcome planes such as the large Airbus A380.
Besides the planned expansion of the Velana International Airport, the Friendship Bridge (scheduled to be completed in July 2018), is another big project regarding Maldives recent tourism developments.
It will bridge the destination between Malé’s in the East to Hulhuléal in the West and, thereby, build a very important land connection between the airport and the capital.
